'Trouble At The Hotel:' 2 Men Shot, 1 Dead In Fairfield (Update)

Details have been released in a deadly shooting on Friday, Oct. 4 in Fairfield.

One man was killed and another wounded in a shooting at the Ramada Inn on 2 Bridges Road around 12:30 p.m., Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II and Fairfield Police Chief Anthony Manna said.

"The Fairfield Police Department received a 911 call reporting unknown trouble at the hotel," Manna and Stephens said in a press release. 

Arriving officers found two men with gunshot wounds at the scene. One was unresponsive and pronounced dead while the other was taken to the hospital in unknown condition.

The identity of the decedent was being withheld pending formal identification and notification of next of kin and no further information was provided.

The incident is being investigated by the Prosecutor’s Homicide Task Force, and detectives from the Fairfield Police Department. The investigation is active and ongoing. Although the investigation is active and open, authorities believe there is no imminent threat to the community.
